Azimio La Umoja’s rally held in Moyale, Marsabit County on Thursday, June 23, turned into chaos following the uproar caused by supporters of opposing political candidates gearing up for the upcoming August 9, General Election.

The police officers present, experienced difficulty containing the irate crowd, prompting them to use tear gas to disperse the mob that had stolen the show.

However, the escalated uproar that lasted for some minutes was blamed on sibling rivalry allegedly behind the hiring of goons to disrupt Odinga’s campaign in Marsabit County.

The rally turned out to be an arena between the supporters of UPIA movement party leader Ukur Yatani and United Democratic Movement (UDM) Mohamud Ali, who are battling for the Marsabit gubernatorial seat.

It was not until Yattani was given a chance to address the rally that rival supporters started hurling stones at the podium, forcing police to intervene.

Raila and Karua’s bodyguards encountered a tough time as they fought hard to protect their bosses from the chaos that ensued.

Some of the supporters could be seen hurling stones at each other as others tore apart the waving posters and placards.

This forced Odinga and other leaders to relocate their campaigns to Marsabit town following the turmoil.

Prior to Yattani’s invitation to address the public, Governor Mohamud Ali was given a chance to address the rally which was on the brink of shouts.

“Wachana na hao wachache wameagizwa kupiga kelele. Sisi tunajua kucheza mchezo ya kweli. Wakati ikifika tunajua vile tunacheza,” he said.

However, the Azimio Marsabit chaos prompted lawyer Dr. Miguna Miguna’s comments that Kenyans are tired of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his “project” Raila Odinga.

In his Twitter comment, Dr. Miguna Miguna stated that Kenyans have already decided to choose the leaders they want and not Uhuru’s “project.”

“Kenyans have decided. The puppet and Despot Uhuru Kenyatta’s project is going home whether they like it or not. They can have meetings at KICC or at the statehouse. The game is Over!” he stated.
