NAIROBI – Kenya will host all of its African Nations Championship (CHAN) Group A matches at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, according to the official fixtures released Friday by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The Harambee Stars will open their campaign against two-time champions the Democratic Republic of Congo on Sunday, August 3. Kenya is co-hosting the 2024 CHAN tournament, which features national teams composed exclusively of domestic league players.

In their second fixture, Kenya will face Angola on Thursday, August 7, followed by a clash with Morocco on Sunday, August 10. The national team will wrap up its group stage on Sunday, August 17, against Zambia’s Chipolopolo.
CAF has scheduled all other Group A matches not involving Kenya to take place at Nyayo National Stadium, also in Nairobi.
CAF released the full tournament schedule confirming that Group B, co-hosted by Tanzania, will begin on Saturday, August 2. The Taifa Stars will face Burkina Faso at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam. They will later meet Mauritania on August 6 and Madagascar on August 9, before concluding against the Central African Republic on August 16.
Uganda’s national team, the Cranes, are set to host Group C fixtures at Nelson Mandela National Stadium in Kampala. They will begin their tournament against Algeria on August 4, followed by matches against Guinea on August 8 and Niger on August 11. Their final group game will be against South Africa on August 18.
In Group D, defending champions Senegal will start their title defense against Nigeria on August 5 at Zanzibar’s Amaan Stadium. They will then face Congo on August 12 and complete the group stage against Sudan on August 19.
The last group stage matches will be played on August 19. Quarterfinals will follow on August 23 and 24. Semifinals are scheduled for August 26, while the bronze medal match will be held on August 29 in Kampala.
The tournament final will take place at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi on Saturday, August 30.
CAF has emphasized even scheduling across all host nations. The body said in a statement that the goal was “to ensure fairness in travel and rest periods while maximizing home support.”
Preparations are ongoing at all designated venues. Kenya’s Ministry of Sports has confirmed readiness at Kasarani, stating the stadium is “fully compliant with CAF standards” and is undergoing final touch-ups ahead of kickoff.
The CHAN tournament showcases talent from domestic leagues and offers a pathway for players to break into senior international football. Kenya last appeared in CHAN in 2009, and this edition marks its return to the continental stage on home soil.
