Tyrese Gibson Heads to Nairobi After Uganda Visit

Hollywood actor and R&B singer Tyrese Gibson is on his way to Nairobi after a short but high-profile visit to Uganda.

Gibson shared his excitement in a video from an airport as he prepared for the next leg of his African tour.

“I’m on my way to Nairobi… Nairobi, Africa,” he said, appearing animated as he walked through the terminal.

At one point, Gibson saluted military personnel at the airport and said: “I gotta respect the soldiers out here.”

His journey to Kenya follows several engagements in Uganda, where he met President Yoweri Museveni and took part in activities linked to the country’s coffee and tourism sectors.

From Uganda to Kenya

Gibson arrived in Uganda on Tuesday, where he was involved in the launch of the Explore Uganda Coffee Tourism campaign.

The initiative brings together the Uganda Tourism Board, Kampala Capital City Authority, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Africa Coffee Park. It aims to promote Uganda’s coffee industry alongside its tourism and cultural attractions.

His Uganda itinerary also included a meeting with President Museveni at State House.

Museveni said the two discussed the creative arts, tourism and the historical and cultural links between Africa and African Americans.

“I welcome international artiste Tyrese Gibson to Uganda,” Museveni said in a post on X. He added that they discussed the role of artists in Uganda’s services sector and opportunities for economic development.

Gibson also visited the Africa Coffee Park in Ntungamo, where he spoke about the country’s coffee industry and possible investment opportunities.

He is expected to return to Uganda later this year for the Coffee Concert in Ntungamo, scheduled for October 3.

A growing connection with Africa

The visit has added another chapter to Gibson’s relationship with the continent.

Known for his role as Roman Pearce in the Fast & Furious franchise, Gibson has maintained a career spanning music and film. He rose to prominence as an R&B singer before becoming a familiar face in Hollywood.

His latest African tour has combined entertainment with cultural and business engagements, particularly in Uganda.

Gibson now turns his attention to Nairobi, although details of his programme in Kenya have not yet been publicly confirmed.

“Africa! Africa!” he exclaimed in his airport video as he made his way towards Nairobi.
