Kennedy Ombima, better known by his stage name King Kaka, released a new song titled “Cherop” on June 1. The song features Kipsang, who sings in his native Kalenjin, while King Kaka delivers his verses in his usual mix of Kiswahili and English.
The song appears to be a love song wooing a girl named Cherop, as evident in the lyrics (“You belong to me”). What’s impressive is the rhyme in King Kaka’s verse. It appears that the video was shot in just one location, which is okay; the video quality isn’t that bad. However, it isn’t as crisp as what we saw in Vic West’s “Big Bigger Biggest” last week.
The song is supposed to be the first track of King Kaka’s upcoming album, “Mr. Invincible.”
King Kaka has been working hard. He recently had the premiere of his film “Monkey Business.”Some big names featured in Monkey Business include Janet Mbugua, Prezzo and Scar Mkadinali. It is based on a true story and is written, produced and directed by King Kaka himself.
The theme of the premiere was yellow and black. Celebrities present included Janet Mbugua, Prezzo, Obinna and Media personality turned politician Jalang’o.
Jacky Vike, First daughter Charlene Ruto, radio presenter Kerry Martin, Online personality Kabugi and Pascal Tokodi were also spotted at the premiere.
By showing up with his wife Nana Owiti, King Kaka blasted break-up rumours that the two had separated and Nana had fled to the US with their children. What did not help the situation was that at the time the rumours were flying around, Nana posted a TikTok video with the song Too Little, Too Late by Jojo. Not only that, the latest pictures on her Instagram were of her outside the country.
King Kaka had to create a TikTok video addressing the rumours. It was after their joint appearance that the public realized it was all just hogwash.
