Nominated senator, Karen Nyamu has taken a swipe at Gen Z, labeling them foolish for focusing on petty issues amd bashing politicians as opposed to actually using the platform to address crucial issues plaguing them.
Karen Naymu often courts controversy and embraces the mantra “any publicity is good publicity.” She was already trending for her bold actions during Raila Odinga’s African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship bid at State House.
The nominated senator, who is anything but a wallflower, galavanted her way to state house and proceeded to greet dignitaries and heads of state from across Africa while sucking on a lollipop.
In her recent viral video, the controversial senator criticized the youth for missing the chance to address key issues like job creation while they had the undivided attention of President William Ruto and the media.
“Gen Zs ni mafala sana (Gen Zs are so foolish),” Nyamu declared in the video. “You get the attention of the whole country, from the President to the media, and when you’re given a platform to speak, you only complain about me being arrogant or talk about Murkomen. How does that improve your lives?”
She emphasized that Generation Z should channel their energy into constructive conversations, which can enhance employment prospects, training, and overall living standards, rather than chasing trends or seeking attention (ironic isn’t it?)
“You were called to the table, and the President gave you the space to speak. Instead of addressing how your lives could be improved, all you could say was that Karen Nyamu is arrogant. Even if I stopped being arrogant, how would that change anything for you?” Nyamu questioned.
Nyamu urged young people to prioritize self-improvement and seize opportunities that address pressing issues for positive change.
“You should have told the President how he can create jobs for you or provide training,” Nyamu said. “Focus on what will benefit you. Complaining about me or any other leader doesn’t help your situation.”
Many have criticized Nyamu for her harsh language and broad generalizations, arguing that her comments dismiss the contributions of young Kenyans eager to make a difference.
The unconventional Nyamu elicited mixed reactions; some supported her, while others criticized the sultry politician.
“Hana Akili (She has no brain),” @Misspreety17 posted on X, formerly Twitter.
“She has a point though, The Gen Z revolution is now just almost but dead. but out of it, Morara and Kasmuel have emerged. I am sure if they organise something better can come out of it, Gen Z needs to declare the two their leaders.” Jeremy Mbatia said regarding Nyamu’s video.
“Whenever I see this lady speaking, I see someone who embodies the epitome of ignorance and foolishness. I wish he gets herself into introspection and really sees who she has become and is,” Philip Ochieng unapologetically said about the Senator.
“She is telling the truth. any sane person cannot board a train which has no head. It’s bound to crash at some point. they should stop fooling people with the leaderless nonsense. At a point, they must have a leader,” @Straymouth keenly advised Gen Z.
“Ukiacha kuwa arrogant and serve the people they will leave you alone but ukitapikia waKenya kitawaramba,” @Omistky replied on X.
“Karen Nyamu is a true definition of beauty without brains. her position deserves people like Hanifa,” PK Sellasie wittingly opined.
