Ally B: Tributes Pour in For Musician

The music industry and fans were shocked to learn of Ally B’s passing on Wednesday, November 1.

According to reports, the veteran singer and performer was just a few days away from being released from the hospital after receiving a pneumonia diagnosis. Unfortunately, everything went wrong, and Ally B died.

Since the news of his passing broke, Kenyans have shown solidarity in mourning the singer popularly known for songs like Maria and Bembea. Ally B has been eulogized as a well-known performer in Kenya during the early 2000s. Not long after leaving the music industry, he tried his hand in politics. He attempted to run on a Jubilee Party ticket in 2017 for a ward representative position in Kisauni, Mombasa County’s Junda Ward.

Several political figures and fellow celebrities in the music industry have expressed their sadness. President William Ruto took to his X, formerly known as Twitter, page to mourn the singer’s passing writing; I join the music fraternity in mourning the passing of Ally B, a musician who harnessed his talent to foster unity and harmony in our society. Ali Khamisi Mwanguli inscribed his message of peace deep within our hearts, and we will forever carry that meaningful tune. May God provide solace to his family, friends and devoted fans.

In an emotional tribute on Facebook, fellow singer Susumila posted treasured old pictures with departed singer Ally B. The vocalist expressed his grief and shock at the unexpected death of Ally B. The performer reflected on their colourful past, dating back to their first encounter in 2016. As friends and partners, they had travelled widely and shared the stage at about a thousand performances together over the years.

 Mzazi Willy M Tuva, host of Radio Citizen’s Mseto Show, expressed shock and sadness at the musician’s death, taking to Instagram writing; I find it hard to believe it. Most of us valued you. You have to go back in peace. Rest in peace.
