Molo Murder Suspect Arrested

A 23-year-old suspect has been arrested over the killing of Form Four student Joy Wangui in Molo, Nakuru, after a month-long manhunt.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested over the killing of an 18-year-old Form Four student in Molo.

The suspect, Walter Kipkoech, was found in a hideout in Kuresoi North. He had been wanted since the killing of Joy Wangui.

Suspect Found in Hideout

Kipkoech was arrested in Lagwenda village. The arrest was made by Molo detectives. Officers from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau also took part.

The operation followed a sustained search. Kipkoech had reportedly gone into hiding after Wangui was killed.

Student Found Dead

Wangui was a Form Four student at Molo Secondary School. Her body was found inside a house in Kiambaa. The discovery was made after her brother returned from a nearby shop.

Investigators said the body was found in the kitchen. Her head was later found in a corridor. An axe, a panga and two knives were also recovered. The items were reported to have bloodstains.

Police Examine Possible Motive

Investigators have linked Kipkoech to Wangui as her boyfriend.

A possible dispute in the relationship is being examined as part of the investigation. The motive has not been established by a court.

A message was also reportedly found on a wall. Police said it appeared to have been written using blood.

Evidence Recovered

The suspect was reportedly found wearing clothes with suspected bloodstains. A white T-shirt bearing Wangui’s name was also reportedly worn. His jeans were said to have dried bloodstains.

The items are expected to form part of the evidence being examined by detectives.

Suspect Awaits Court

Kipkoech was taken to Molo Police Station. He is being processed before being presented in court. Police said he is expected to face murder charges.

Investigations are continuing. Detectives are expected to examine the evidence recovered at the scene. They will also seek to establish the events leading to Wangui’s death.

The DCI has expressed condolences to Wangui’s family. It said investigators would continue pursuing the case as the legal process begins.
