Rwandans Live 9 Years Longer than other East Africans

Rwandans are living at least 9 years longer than the majority of East Africans, according to the latest figures released by the National Institute of Statistics.

According to the latest fifth population and housing census in 2022, Rwandans are living for at least nine years longer than the majority of East Africans.

Rwanda’s life expectancy is now 69.6 years, up from 51.2 years in 2002, data from the 5th Population and Housing Census 2022 indicates.

“I was chosen by missionaries to go to represent the Seventh Advent Church. This was how I became the council to king Ruchaigwa of Rwanda”, an elderly person said.

“I do not eat meat I eat vegetables, Sweet Potatoes, beans, peas, and milk”, an elderly person added in a statement.

All few Rwandans have made it to a hundred years before. We are likely to see more citizens of this progressive East African nation if figures released by the National Institute of Statistics are anything to go by.

“It is very important, we have access to health services but also have community-based health insurance also I have to say that if we can able to reduce the size of the family so that each family can have a number of children’’, an official said.

Rwanda currently has close to 58,000 health community workers deployed in every village to treat infectious diseases.

The government has also made it mandatory for every household to have health insurance coverage, which has made healthcare access relatively affordable.

Vulnerable people, especially those in the informal sector, are required to pay $3 (Ksh 397) per year to have access to medical care through community-based health insurance.

Rwanda has also reduced child mortality from 196 out of 1000 in 2000 to just 45 out of 1000 children in 2020.
