Victor Wanyama Signs New Contract with CF Montréal

Victor Wanyama signs a two-year contract extension through the 2024 Major League Soccer season with CF Montreal. The Lion Of Muthurwa set to continue in the MLS

Former Harambee Stars Captain Victor Wanyama has signed a new 2-year deal with MLS side CF Montréal, the club announced on Friday. The 31-year-old midfielder joined Montreal on a free transfer from English Premier League side Tottenham on March 3, 2020.

In his three seasons with CF Montreal, Wanyama has made 80 appearances, scoring five goals and providing eight assists. Last season, he served as Captain for CF Montréal as it became a force in the Eastern Conference, finishing second to the Philadelphia Union with 65 points (20W-9L-5D).

After signing the new deal, Wanyama said, “I’m excited to stay at the club and the city where I have been so happy for the past three years,” Wanyama said in a release. “When I arrived here, I believed in the club’s project. As we continue to grow, this is even more true. I am eager to continue bringing my best for my teammates, the coaching staff and the Montréal supporters.”

CF Montreal begin their 2023 season, under a new head coach Hernan Losada, on Feb 25 at Inter Miami CF.
