Meru County Governor Kawira Mwangaza has been Impeached due to Office misconduct on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 after the voting process was conducted.
The idea comes after 67 Meru Members of the County Assembly on Wednesday Voted in support of Kawira Mwangaza’s Impeachment motion which was First proposed by Abogeta West MCA Dennis Kiogora in November this year.
Reports indicate that 2 MCAs Simon Kiambi of Kiagu Ward and John Kithinji of Nkomo Ward, did not Participate in the Voting process since they were absent.

“The members that have voted are 67; two members are absent. At this juncture, we have 67 ayes and zero nays. Governor Kawira Mwangaza stands impeached by the Meru County Assembly,” the house’s speaker said after the votes were tallied.
The Governor’s chance now lies with the Senate which is expected to uphold or overturn the impeachment.

In a statement, Abogeta West MCA Dennis Kiogora expressed his confidence that the Senate will support the Meru County Assembly’s decision.
