Police FC Clinch First-Ever FKF Premier League Title After Season Finale Draw
Police FC were officially crowned 2024–2025 Football Kenya Federation Premier League champions on Sunday evening following a 1–1 draw with Gor Mahia at Ulinzi Complex in Nairobi. The result sealed a historic moment for the club, marking its first top-flight title since joining the league three years ago.

The title ceremony came after the final whistle, as players lifted the trophy before a crowd that included prominent political and sports figures. ODM leader Raila Odinga, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, and FKF Vice President McDonald Mariga attended the celebrations.
Police FC finished the season at the top of the table with 65 points from 34 matches, securing 18 wins, 11 draws, and 5 losses. Gor Mahia, who trailed throughout the final stretch of the campaign, finished second with 59 points.
Kakamega Homeboyz claimed third place with 58 points. Tusker FC followed in fourth with 57, and Shabana FC rounded out the top five at 53 points.
Police FC head coach Etienne Ndayiragije, a Burundian national, guided the team to the league title just four seasons after their promotion from the National Super League. Police FC had earned promotion in September 2021 after winning the NSL title.
Speaking after the match, Ndayiragije said, “This win means a lot. The players gave everything, and this is the reward for the hard work put in over the past few seasons.”
With this championship, Police FC qualify to represent Kenya in next season’s CAF Champions League. This comes after their debut in continental competition during the current CAF Confederation Cup campaign, where they exited in the second preliminary round following a 3–2 aggregate loss to Zamalek FC of Egypt last September.
Kakamega Homeboyz striker Moses Shumah finished the season as top scorer with 17 goals, earning the golden boot award.
Police FC’s win ends Gor Mahia’s dominance and signals a shift in the balance of power in Kenyan football. The club’s rise from second-tier champions to league winners in under four years reflects a period of steady growth and strong results.
