The incident took place on Monday with the cost of damage caused reported to be in excess of £100,000.

Tottenham Hotspur, which has close ties to the Jewish community, confirmed the arrest while also allaying fears that the incident may have been antisemitic.

Their official statement read,”We can verify that an arrest has been made in connection with a case of criminal damage that occurred on Monday night. There is no indication that this incident is linked to antisemitism.”

The 63,000 seater stadium was opened in 2019 after construction which cost £1.2 billion ($1.45bn).

It features a retractable grass pitch, enabling it to transform into a venue for American football events.

Notably, it hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars’ victory over the Buffalo Bills the day before the incident.

On Sunday, the stadium will once more play host to the NFL, as the Baltimore Ravens face off against the Tennessee Titans.

It will then swiftly transition back to its football setup to welcome Tottenham Hotspur for their Monday night match against Fulham the following week.
