Cristiano Ronaldo fever swept across Iran, with fans chasing Al-Nassr’s team bus and converging at the club’s hotel upon the superstar’s arrival.
Massive crowds lined the streets and swarmed the bus, eager to catch a glimpse of Ronaldo before the upcoming Asian Champions League match against Persepolis.
There were reports that Al-Nassr canceled a training session due to the overwhelming presence of fans.
This highlights the extent of Ronaldo’s popularity, which has continued to grow across Asia since he moved to Saudi Arabia.
The hype heightened with the arrival of additional star players like Neymar, Karim Benzema and Aymeric Laporte this summer.
In addition to Ronaldo, his club has welcomed Sadio Mane and it’s worth noting that his former Liverpool teammates Roberto Firmino, Fabinho, and Jordan Henderson have also made the switch to the same league.
Al-Nassr posted clips on X, formerly known as Twitter, of fans running to try to catch the yellow bus.
Many raised their phones, desperate to take photos of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner through the vehicle’s windows.
In other social media videos, hundreds of local fans could be seen rushing inside the lobby of the hotel where Al-Nassr are staying while chanting ‘Ronaldo, Ronaldo’.
Ronaldo was seen smiling as he was escorted up to his room at the Espinas Palace Tehran by security guards.
An entire floor has been set aside for Al Nassr with a reserved suite for Ronaldo.
The match which is scheduled for Tuesday will be played at the 78,000-capacity Aazdi Stadium behind closed doors.
