Kenya’s National Treasury is set to open public hearings on the proposed 2027/28 budget on Friday, giving stakeholders an opportunity to weigh in on government spending priorities as preparations for the next financial year begin.
The hearings will take place at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi on October 9, 12 and 13, 2026. They form part of the public participation process required in Kenya’s budget-making framework.
Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi and Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo are expected to launch the exercise alongside Samuel Atandi, chairperson of the National Assembly’s Budget and Appropriations Committee.

The opening session will include a presentation on the economic outlook for the 2027/28 financial year and the medium term. Discussions are also expected to cover health, economic and commercial affairs, energy, infrastructure, and information and communications technology.
The consultations come as the government prepares to determine how public resources will be allocated across competing priorities. Stakeholders will have an opportunity to raise concerns and propose areas they believe deserve greater attention.
The hearings are part of the wider process through which public views are gathered before budget decisions are finalised.
Ukombozi Alliance heads to Mombasa

Away from the budget discussions, leaders associated with the Ukombozi Alliance are expected to begin a two-day tour of Mombasa, where they plan to meet residents and discuss political and national issues.
The delegation is expected to be led by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Nyali MP Mohammed Ali, former Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi and Democratic Action Party of Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa.
The planned engagements include stops at Changamwe Roundabout and Mwembe Tayari, where the leaders are expected to interact with members of the public.
The tour comes as political figures continue to engage communities across the country ahead of the 2027 General Election. The programme is expected to provide opportunities for the leaders to hear residents’ views, although the specific issues to be raised have not been detailed in the supplied report.
Kindiki resumes Murang’a engagements

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is also expected to continue his tour of Murang’a County, with a planned visit to Kandara following engagements in Gatanga Constituency on Thursday.
The visits form part of his ongoing grassroots outreach, which has included meetings with residents and local leaders in different parts of the county.
Murang’a remains an important area of political activity as parties and leaders prepare for the next general election. Kindiki’s latest visit is expected to extend his engagement with residents, though the specific agenda for the Kandara stop has not been provided.
The three events reflect a busy Friday for public affairs, with attention split between the government’s budget consultation process and political outreach in the Coast and central Kenya.
