Twitter Officially Switches to X, Despite Meta Owning Rights

Twitter has officially been rebranded to X despite claims of Meta possibly owning rights to X. The new X logo is now visible on Twitter’s website.

Elon Musk announced the change of the logo over the weekend from the bluebird to the X. In a series of tweets on his account, he said, ‘and soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds’, hinting at the possibility of bidding goodbye to the bird logo.

This move, Elon writes, is because of his love for the letter X. He further stated that the term tweets would be changed to X’s with the rebrand. Though the logo has been changed on the website, it is yet to change as an icon on the mobile app.

The change is among the many new implementations Elon Musk has made to the social media platform since he bought it for $44 billion last year.

Amid the rebrand, a video was released of an employee removing the logo on the side of the building. The state officials, however, stopped the person from removing the logo in a claim that they did not have a permit for the equipment being used to pull down the logo.

Though Elon Musk threatened to sue Mark Zuckerberg for ‘cheating’ with Meta’s new Threads app, Mark might be the one to sue Elon.

It is reported that Meta has registered a logo for ‘X’ and is connected to an online social networking service. According to Insider, online social networking services are tied to the fields of entertainment, gaming, and application development.

The rebrand to X might be a violation of a trademark that Meta already owns.
