The CS spoke to an international Media Outlet, TRT Afrika indicating that Kenya was yet to receive the full context of the viral video of General Yasser Al-Atta calling out the president.

“We cannot verify the authenticity of the video or whether the senior military officer actually made those remarks. We also need a formal translation to understand what he said,” said the CS.

He further stated that the government will go ahead and take the right steps forward to find out the full information needed. They would figure out what the context of the video was before making an official response to the matter addressed.

The General is seen in the viral video, calling out the President of Kenya and daring him to deploy the KDF. He further mentions Ruto need not involve the East African Forces which is currently offering aid to citizens in Khartoum.

Within this same video, the general expressed that they would triumph over the Kenyan forces if they were to be deployed.

Cause of the Sudanese General’s dare to war

The dare came after President Ruto was appointed as a mediator in the fight between the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan Armed Forces in Sudan. He was appointed by Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) despite protests from the Sudan Army.

The general alleged that Ruto was financing the RSF which is under the leadership of Mohammed Hamdan Dgagalo, alias Hemedti.

The president however refuted these claims in one of the hospitals in Nairobi. In addition to this, in an interview with France 24 on June 24, Ruto termed these accusations as a false narrative and maintained his stance on advocating for a truce between the warring factions.
