United host Nottingham Forest for the Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg fixture at Old Trafford on Wednesday, February 1.
Six minutes into the fixture and Marcus Rashford scores following a sensational run from the flanks and into the box. His brilliant solo effort takes his goal tally to 10 from as many games since returning from the World Cup.
Rashford’s goal puts him as the top scorer in the Carabao Cup with 5 goals. New signing Wout Weghorst has every right to be proud of himself as well because he was the first to react after Wayne Hennessey stopped Antony’s low shot and scored on the rebound. In addition, substitutes Facundo Pellistri and Anthony Elanga both contributed to Fernandes’ low shot that was deflected past Wayne Hennessey. 3-0 United!
If Surridge had timed his run better or Morgan Gibbs-White had placed his pass a little earlier, Nottingham Forest probably would have equalized. Surridge beat David de Gea despite being slightly offside, and VAR disallowed the goal.
