Radio presenter Maina Kageni has revealed that he had managed to steal his mom’s car at the age of 12.
He made the revelation after seeing a viral video of a 9-year-old boy driving his father’s car down the busy Mombasa Road.
“Do you know I stole my mum’s car at age 12?” Maina told his co-host Mwalimu King’ang’i.
When told to stop, he speeded up, prompting the police to pursue him.

When his co-host questioned him about where he got the car in the first place, he responded that his family had always had cars growing up.
Despite stealing the car, he stated that he was always a good child and had never been disciplined by his widowed mother.
“I was never beaten, I was a good child. My mum has never beaten me. She pinched me once on the cheek and I cried for a week. You don’t have to be beaten to be disciplined,” he narrated as reported by Mpasho.
When it comes to discipline, Mwalimu believes that parents have let their guard down when it comes to disciplining their children, and as a result, most children today are spoilt.
“Kids nowadays are very spoilt. Unajuwa hawachapwi hata shule just ask the teachers. These kids are spoiled by their parents. If parents can be sued most African parents would be sentenced to life imprisonment,” said Mwalimu.
He did, however, receive support from various callers who admitted that they do spoil their children, particularly those who identified themselves as single parents, in order to prevent their children from wondering where the other parent is.
“My child is 3 years old and I spoil her a lot. We never had these things so I give her whatever she wants. Before cooking, I ask her what she wants to eat. When looking for a school if she doesn’t like it we look for something else,
“When the responsibility of taking care of the child is left to you alone, you give them everything so that they don’t get a chance to ask you where their dad is,” narrated a caller.
