Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have signed a long-term deal with Australian teenager Nestory Irankunda,who will join the team in July next year after he turns 18.
The dynamic 17-year-old winger born in a Tanzanian refugee camp to Burundian parents, relocated to Perth as an infant and later to Adelaide, where he discovered his passion for the sport.
Irankunda has already showcased his talent by representing his adopted country at the under-17 level and earning a spot on the bench for two Socceroos international friendlies this year, although he did not play.
“It’s really unbelievable. There were multiple teams interested and I had to make the choice and I made the choice of Bayern Munich,” Irankunda said.

“There was obviously offers from English Premier League teams but my dad said he supported Bayern. There was a photo he showed me in the refugee camp, in Bayern Munich kit, so I went off that, to make my parents and my dad proud,” he added.
At just 15 years old, Irankunda made his debut for Adelaide in January last year. Despite primarily coming off the bench in his inaugural season, his remarkable series of goals distinguished him as an exceptional talent.
“We’ve had Nestory on our radar for some time and we’re pleased we’ve reached an agreement with him and Adelaide United on a move to Munich for next summer,” Bayern’s director of youth development Jochen Sauer said in a statement.

However,Financial details of the transfer were not disclosed.
