The Governor of Kisumu Anyang Nyong’o has retracted his earlier statement that suspended the protestors from protesting against the high cost of living.
After succumbing to pressure from various quarters including Azimio’s party leader he has said that the protest will continue as normal Today and Monday. He was encouraged by the Azimio protestors to let the protest continue in Kisumu as planned.

“We have been urged by our people to continue with the peaceful demonstrations tomorrow and we shall do so. We ask you to turn out in large numbers and join other Kenyans in this Liberation movement” Governor Nyong’o said.
The above statement came after Azimio la Umoja party leader Raila Odinga announced that the protest will continue countrywide as planned before.
Governor Nyong’o wanted Kisumu protestors to join protestors in Nairobi. The reason Governor Nyong’o wanted to suspend demonstrations and protests in Kisumu was that he wanted to enable Mr. Raila Odinga’s supporters to join the ongoing protests and demonstrations in Nairobi.
However, the governor of Nairobi Sakaja Johnson retaliated to his statement saying that no protest and demonstration will be done in Nairobi and that his plan was unacceptable.
He then told Governor Nyong’o to keep his protests in his county Kisumu as Nairobi has dealt with the horrible damages that came due to the demonstrations and protests that happened the last two Mondays.
“In the spirit of devolution, I would advise the Governor of Kisumu, Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o, to keep his demonstrations to his County,” said the governor of Nairobi via a statement titled Back to Sender.
