Bankers Club KCB had to come twice from behind in a friendly against Kefwa FC in preparation for the upcoming FKF Premier League Season
KCB and Kefwa FC played out an entertaining match at the KCB Leadership Centre, Karen on Wednesday. KCB came twice from behind to win 5-2, an emphatic scoreline that highlights their intent heading into the scheduled football league resumption in Kenya.
Kefwa FC is a team comprising ex-FKF Premier League players, playing as free agents.
Forward Enock Agwanda, Winger James Mazembe, Midfielder Michael Mutinda, Hillary Dukussy, and Michael Oduor all scored goals for the bankers but an own goal by Haniff Makale and an ex-Tusker FC striker, David Majak, kept KEFWA’s reputation intact.
Following the win, KCB Head Coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno has said, “We’re happy with the win since it gives us the confidence to face our opponents as we move closer to the start of the 2022/23 Kenyan Premier League season.”

At a meeting in late October in Nairobi, representatives from 14 of the 18 FKF Premier League clubs that took part in the 2021/22 FKF PL season decided that the new season will begin between 12-20 November.
Speaking to Standard Sports, City Stars FC CEO Patrick Korir noted, “It is better to have a plan that we can work with right now before we are caught unawares in November once everything gets cleared by the new Sports CS Ababu Namwamba whom we hope will restore the credibility of the league,
“The clubs need to ensure that players have their jobs and their livelihoods continue otherwise they risk losing their passion, career, and source of income.”
