The spotlight is on Kenyan RNB singer Nikita Kering’ as fans eagerly await the release of her new EP after being named Spotify EQUAL Program Artist for November.
The Spotify EQUAL program highlights several of Africa’s top female musicians. Muthoni Drummer Queen and Ssaru are the only other Kenyan artists who have been mentioned in previous editions.
Each month Spotify nominates an ambassador for their positive influence in the industry. The EQUAL program aims at providing artists with the resources they need to reach the global audience- make a mark on a global stage.

Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, revealed this in a statement on Monday, “As a company known for being at the forefront of empowering artists since it was founded, Spotify is proud to have the talented Nikita Kering’ join the EQUAL Africa family as the artist for November. We are looking forward to working with her to help build on her growing fan base.”
In 2021, Nikita Kering’s biggest hit single ‘Ex’ was one of the most streamed songs in Kenya.
In that year, she won ‘Best RnB and Soul Artist’ and ‘Best Female Artist East Africa’ at the 2021 All Africa Music Awards.
In 2020, she was the youngest performer at the annual Women in Music concert series in Nairobi. The following year she released her debut EP, A Side Of Me.
