MOSOCHO, Opposition leaders on Friday used a rally in Kisii County to call for stronger adherence to the rule of law, greater accountability in public institutions and improved delivery of public services.
Addressing hundreds of residents gathered in Mosocho, the leaders said the Linda Mwananchi movement was focused on protecting citizens’ rights and giving ordinary Kenyans a stronger voice in national affairs.
Among those who spoke were Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi and Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka.

The leaders urged Kenyans to remain united and to continue engaging elected leaders on issues affecting their daily lives, including the rising cost of living, unemployment and access to essential public services.
“The movement seeks to amplify the voices of ordinary Kenyans,” the leaders said, adding that citizens should actively participate in democratic processes and hold public institutions accountable.
The rally drew large crowds, with supporters waving party flags and chanting slogans as speakers reiterated their commitment to what they described as good governance and the protection of constitutional rights.
The event comes at a time of heightened political activity across the country, with both government and opposition leaders increasing public engagements ahead of the 2027 General Election. While the opposition has continued to press for reforms and greater accountability, the government has maintained that it remains committed to implementing its development agenda and addressing the country’s economic challenges.
Friday’s gathering ended peacefully, with organisers encouraging supporters to remain engaged in civic and democratic processes.
