Houston TX- Beyoncé’s hometown show in Houston took a dramatic turn Saturday night when her flying red Cadillac began to tilt dangerously mid-air, forcing the superstar to pause her performance mid-song and cling to a pole for support.
The crowd had been swept up in the emotional ballad 16 Carriages, a highlight of her Cowboy Carter tour, when the stage prop a Cadillac hoisted above the audience on cables suddenly leaned to one side.
“Stop! Stop, stop, stop, stop,” the 43-year-old singer said sharply, cutting the music short as the vehicle wobbled above the stadium.
Gasps echoed through the crowd, followed by stunned silence then cautious applause as the car was slowly lowered to the ground. Beyoncé, gripping a flagpole for balance, kept smiling and waved to the fans below.
“If ever I fall, I know y’all will catch me,” she said after safely reaching the stage, prompting cheers from the audience.
Her production team, Parkwood Entertainment, later issued a brief statement, calling the incident a “technical mishap.”
“She was quickly lowered and no one was injured. The show continued without incident,” the company said.
A Close Call in a Glittering Career
Though rare, onstage malfunctions aren’t new for Beyoncé. During a show earlier in the Cowboy Carter tour, a robot designed to pour her a drink missed its mark spilling whisky across the stage. And back in 2018, while performing alongside Jay-Z on their On the Run II tour, a moving platform broke mid-performance. Beyoncé had to climb down a ladder in heels and a glittering leotard.
Fans quickly took to social media with videos of the moment. Many captioned their clips with Beyoncé’s legendary one-liner from a past tour glitch: “Somebody’s getting fired.”
Despite the scare, the three-hour spectacle continued, with the singer unshaken and in full command of the stage.
A Star Back on Home Soil
The Houston stop was the 23rd date on her 32-show Cowboy Carter stadium tour, which wraps up in Las Vegas next month. The tour, inspired by Southern Americana and Beyoncé’s Texas roots, has been met with sold-out venues and glowing reviews.
She’s shared the stage with her daughters, 13-year-old Blue Ivy and eight-year-old Rumi, who’ve both made brief appearances adding a personal touch to the spectacle.
In Europe, Beyoncé shattered ticket records, including those at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London and Stade de France in Paris both of which she previously held.
For Beyoncé fans in Houston, the brief moment of panic only seemed to deepen their admiration.
“She handled it like a pro,” one concertgoer said. “Even when the car tilted, she stayed calm. That’s why she’s Queen Bey.”
