Nairobi, Kenya – The Nairobi Hospital has appointed Felix Osano as its new Chief Executive Officer, stepping into the role with immediate effect. This move comes as part of a wider leadership reshuffle at one of Kenya’s most prominent private healthcare institutions.
Osano, who had been serving as Acting CEO since November 2024, replaces James Nyamongo, who officially stepped down in December 2024.
“It’s a great honors to lead an institution with such a rich legacy,” Osano said in a brief statement following the announcement. “My focus is on quality patient care and strengthening the hospital’s operational performance.”

The appointment was confirmed in a signed statement by Dr. Barcley Onyambu, Chairman of the Kenya Hospital Association, which oversees the hospital’s management. “We are confident that Mr. Osano’s strategic vision, industry expertise, and commitment to excellence will steer The Nairobi Hospital into its next chapter of innovation and patient-centred care,” said Dr. Onyambu.
Osano brings more than 17 years of professional experience, much of it across the healthcare and consumer goods sectors in Africa and Asia. Before taking on the acting CEO role, he served as the hospital’s Director of Supply Chain.
He’s also an academic, currently pursuing a Doctorate in Strategic Management at USIU-Africa. He holds an MBA in Global Business Management from the same institution and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Daystar University. His professional development includes a leadership programme from Strathmore University and multiple international certifications in procurement and supply chain.
Industry insiders suggest the appointment reflects a growing trend in Kenya’s healthcare sector—one that favors homegrown leadership with international insight.
One senior consultant at the hospital, who requested anonymity, said: “Osano understands the local challenges but brings a global perspective. That balance is critical now.”
The hospital has not yet announced any major policy changes under the new leadership, but staff say they are hopeful for improved systems and clearer communication at all levels.
With the health sector under increased public scrutiny and private facilities competing for quality standards, Osano’s leadership will likely be closely watched.
The Kenya Hospital Association has pledged its full support.
