Man United’s Harry Maguire Accepts Apology From MP Isaac Adongo Who Mocked him in Parliament

Harry Maguire has accepted an apology from the Ghana MP Isaac Adongo.

In a speech discrediting his political rival’s economic policies in a parliamentary session last year, Adongo took a swipe at the England international.

Drawing an unfavorable comparison to Ghana’s vice-president, Mahamudu Bawumia, whom he accused of scoring political own goals, Adongo said, “There is a player like you in England called Maguire that is playing for Manchester United. He became the biggest threat at the centre of Manchester United’s defence, tackling his own players and giving assists to opponents.”

Adongo’s remarks came during a difficult phase for Maguire at United, where he had lost his position in the team under Erik ten Hag.

However, in a recent address to parliament, Adongo expressed regret for his previous comments and extended an apology to the Manchester United star.

“You remember that last year I was very quick to call my big brother, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Harry Maguire. Mr Speaker, I now apologize to Harry Maguire. Maguire is now scoring goals for Manchester United. He is now a key player for Manchester United,” Adongo said during the parliamentary session.

Maguire has now accepted his apology. Responding to a clip of Adongo’s latest comments, the former United captain wrote on X formerly known as Twitter, “MP Issac Adongo apology accepted . See you at Old Trafford soon.”

The Englishman was stripped of the United captaincy in the summer and looked set to leave Old Trafford for West Ham United. However, the move didn’t materialize, and Maguire, staging a comeback this season, has experienced a resurgence in form despite challenges in the team.
