The boy’s mother, still in shock, shared that her son had left home that morning like any other day and had not shown any signs of distress.

She said, “I never imagined he was going through anything like this. He didn’t talk about any problems he might have been facing.”

The deceased pupil’s body has been transferred to the Rapcom Hospital mortuary, awaiting an autopsy as part of the ongoing police investigation.

Chief Ogweno also took this opportunity to call upon parents to engage in open and frequent conversations with their children.

He emphasized, “Many children could be silently struggling, and without our attention and emotional support, they might resort to extreme measures like suicide.”

He added, “We must recognize that children, as well as adults, may need psychosocial support when dealing with stress and challenges in their lives.”

Disturbingly, Migori County has seen a rising trend in mental health issues, according to data from the County Department of Health.
