Members of the Repentance Holiness Church, affiliated with Prophet David Owuor, refuted claims that the church had been deregistered by the government over being linked to the Shakahola massacre.
The worshippers spoke at a press conference held in Nairobi. They aimed to dispel all information released regarding the church being deregistered or closed down.
Their clarification was hinged on only one church affiliated to them being deregistered and not them. The King’s Outreach Church was deregistered on Friday evening, and its association with the Repentance Holiness Church led to the assumption of its closure. They mentioned that the deregistration was pursued to consolidate operations to prevent any fragmentation perception.
Furthermore, the members mentioned that the move to shut down the King’s Outreach Church was made on December 3, 2022. The Registrar of Societies according to them ( the members) took a long to finalize the closure of the said worship centre.
“In that AGM at the end of the year 2022, it was resolved to dissolve and deregister King’s Outreach Church… Therefore the deregistration of King’s Outreach Church has nothing to do with Shakahola,” said Archbishop Major Gen. George Kyaka.
