Tanzanian Invents Anti-Sleep Glasses to Keep Drowsy Drivers Awake

Being behind the wheel is not easy, especially for drivers who do it on a daily basis such as Public Service Vehicle drivers.

Yusuph Haule, a lecturer at Vocational Education Training Authority (VETA) College in Dodoma, has invented glasses that prevent drivers from sleeping.

”These glasses will be worn by drivers while they are driving. The aim will be when the driver is sleeping while driving, there will be a voice that will tell him that he is sleeping. However, this will only apply when the vehicle engine is on,” says Yusuph.

Yusuph also adds that the glasses have been created with sensors that count the number of times the driver blinks and when his eyes are closed.

He hopes the glasses will help reduce road accidents, as some of these drivers do not get enough rest during their tedious shifts. Therefore they may end up feeling sleepy while driving, making it dangerous for both themselves and their passengers.

With the increase in accidents in the country, it is much better for drivers to be careful while driving.
