The current demonstrations, driven by mounting frustrations over the rising cost of living, have led to tragic incidents of violence, including the heart-wrenching news of fifty-three children rushed to the hospital after tear gas was forcefully thrown into their classroom.

The recent incidents of violence and loss of lives are deeply disheartening, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to all those affected. Kenya is a nation of diverse cultures and backgrounds, and it is essential to remember that our strength lies in our unity.

As a media organization, we recognize the power and responsibility of the press to foster peace, dialogue, and cohesion. In reporting of the ongoing demonstrations, we aim to provide accurate and unbiased information, promoting empathy and compassion for fellow citizens.

While exercising our constitutional rights to express grievances is vital, we must do so within the bounds of the law, refraining from violence or destruction. Let us remember that we are brothers and sisters, and our path to progress lies in unity, not conflict.

Africa, the cradle of civilization, has faced numerous challenges, yet we are a continent of immense potential and resilience. To overcome the hurdles we face, we must come together as Kenyans and seek solutions that serve the interests of all.

Our leaders bear a great responsibility to prioritise the welfare, peace, and security of the nation above all else.

As we embark on this national conversation, let us also address the need to bridge the gap between the haves and have-nots. We must tackle issues of inequality and ensure that all Kenyans have equal access to opportunities for growth and development.

The dreams and aspirations we hold for Kenya are at risk if we do not find common ground and build a peaceful and stable nation. We cannot afford to let our country descend into chaos and strife. Let us learn from our history and create a future that we can be proud to leave for our children and future generations.

Today, we appeal to all Kenyans to embrace peace and reject extremism in all forms. Engaging in constructive dialogue, and respecting each other’s rights and viewpoints, will lead us to solutions that benefit us all. Together, united, we are strong; divided, we crumble. Let us stand together and steer our nation towards a brighter and more prosperous future.

May peace and unity prevail in Kenya.
