President Ruto on Building a Sustainable Future Amidst Global Challenges

In a recent speech, President Ruto highlighted the remarkable progress made by Kenya in pursuing economic development and prioritizing sustainable urbanization.

He gladly mentioned the construction of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Habitat headquarters in 2010 as a sign of Kenya’s commitment to these objectives.

His Excellency emphasized that the decision of the international community to locate the United Nations Human Settlement Program, UN Habitat, in Kenya was a recognition for a sustainable development.

Adjusting to the demands of industrialization, sustainable urbanization, and ecological responsibility has had its challenges, but it has demonstrated to be worthwhile and feasible.

The world continues to face challenges at different sectors. COVID-19 caused widespread devastation, and economic crisis which has been driven by geopolitical tensions. Additionally, pollution, biodiversity loss, and climate change poses significant threats to our planet and its inhabitants.

President Ruto acknowledged that people worldwide have been greatly affected, with their lives being in a state of suspense.

Amidst these challenges, President Ruto remains optimistic in his commitment to building a sustainable future. He believes that by addressing these challenges head-on, it is possible to enhance the efficiency, safety, beauty, and livability of our cities.

President Ruto emphasized on the need for global cooperation, urging countries to work together in addressing the triple crisis and creating a sustainable future for generations to come.
