Nikola Jokic leads Denver Nuggets to their first NBA tittle

Denver Nuggets won their first NBA championship on Monday after defeating Miami Heat four games to one in the NBA final.

The finals MVP went to Nikola Jokic for his contributions. He is a two- time MVP and a star centre for the Nuggets. He averaged 30.3 points, 14 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 14 steals. Nikola has now cemented himself as a versatile player.

The Nuggets were the best team in the western conference in the regular season and they looked even better in the play-offs. They defeated Minnesota Timberwolves four games to one, Phoenix Suns four games to Los Angeles Lakers four game to zero.

The Nuggets moved on to beat Miami Heat therefore setting a 16-4 play-off record which is a dominant display.

There were fireworks exploding outside Ball Arena at the final buzzer. Denver is the home of the Larry O’Brien Trophy for the first time in the franchise’s 47 years in the league.

”It was ugly and we couldn’t make shots, but at the end, we figured it out. I am just happy we won the game, ” said Jokic.

Jokic had help from point guard Jamal Murray. The duo had a crafty play which proved almost impossible to defend against. Other players like Aaron Gordon, Bruce Brown hand a hand in the Nugget’s success.

The Nuggets are the third team in the last eight years to win a first NBA Championship. They join the Cleveland Cavaliers (2016) and Toronto Raptors (2019).
