What Vazquez told DAZN on Benzema?

“Karim is a spectacular player, a world-class star, he’s been here 14 years and year after year he scores goals,” “Year after year he’s been Madrid’s number nine, there’s not much left to say about him, I’m very happy for him and enjoying (playing with) him in each game.”

Race for fourth

Barcelona edged closer to a first La Liga title since 2019 with a thumping 0-4 win at Elche making it 12 points clear of second-placed Real Madrid.

The top four spots is thick as Atletico Madrid earned a 1-0 win over Real Betis who are fifth as Villarreal sitting sixth beat fourth-place Real Sociedad 2-0.

Diego Simeone’s Atletico, third, and in fine form since the World Cup, snatched a late win over Betis at the Metropolitano thanks to Angel Correa’s goal.

Copa del Rey semi-final

Copa del Rey semi-final first leg

Xavi Hernandez has the advantage over his counterpart Carlo Ancelotti after edging Los Blancos 0-1 in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final.

However, Barcelona seemed to have found and gained momentum after their 0-4 win in La Liga.

Xavi’s side defended deep after taking the lead and their discipline earned a narrow advantage to take into the second leg at the Nou Camp on wednesday.

Militao’s own goal separated the sides at the Bernabeu making it a 0-1 lead despite the hosts having more possession and chances in both halves as it calls for a bad day in the office for Carlo Ancelotti.

Madrid dominated possession until the end but will have to overturn this at the Nou Camp to prevent Barca from moving closer to a domestic trophy this season.

The teams meet again in Barcelona on April 5 with the winners to face Athletic Bilbao or Osasuna in the final.
