Chelsea and Liverpool draw as Brentford visit Manchester; Tuesday results

Chelsea following Graham Potter’s sacking appointed Bruno Saltor as interim coach. However, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp made six changes following their heavy defeat at Manchester City.

Liverpool barely tested Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga as Klopp left out Mohamed Salah, full-backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson, while Virgil van Dijk was ill.

This result comes with disappointment for Liverpool as they are in a hunt for a place in the Premier League’s top four.

Chelsea had the better of the chances, with Mateo Kovacic seeing his shot cleared off the line by Ibrahima Konate as Alisson then denied Kai Havertz at close range before Reece James saw a crisp volley ruled out for a marginal offside against Enzo Fernandez in the buildup.

Kai Havertz made it past Liverpool keeper Alisson but the goal was ruled out for handball by VAR while Reece James suffered a similar fate in the first half, his effort chalked off for offside.

The second half began in a similar vein to the first, with Kovacic wasting a glorious chance before Havertz had a weak shot saved by Alisson.

Chelsea travels to Molineux to face Wolves on Saturday – kick-off at 5 pm, keeping in mind heading to the Bernabeu to take on Real Madrid in their Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday, April 12 at 10 pm.

Meanwhile, Liverpool hosts Arsenal on Super Sunday from 6:30 pm.

Brentford visit Manchester United Wednesday 10pm

 The last action in week 2 of the English Premier League saw Brentford at home hammering Manchester United 4-0.

However, Manchester United will look to bounce back from their recent defeat to Newcastle on Sunday keeping in mind the Champions League race when they host Brentford in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils suffered a 2-0 defeat at St James’ Park and they could drop into fifth by the time they host the Bees on Wednesday if Tottenham avoids defeat at Everton.

Manchester midfielder Casemiro remains suspended for this game and the following clash with Everton, leaving Erik Ten Hag with another decision to make in the centre of the park.

Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek are also sidelined, the spots will go to two of Scott McTominay, Marcel Sabitzer, and Fred.

Anthony Martial made his return from injury as a substitute in the defeat to Newcastle and a lot is expected from him before he makes the starting XI.

The Bees are eyeing European qualification themselves but were held to an enthralling 3-3 draw by Brighton at the AMEX Stadium in their most recent outing.
