Back to back hat-trick for Benzema as Real Madrid edge Barcelona to reach Copa del Rey final

Karim Benzema scored a Second-half hat-trick making it a back-to-back as Real Madrid cruised past Barcelona to reach the Copa del Rey final to be played on May 6.

The Frenchman is now two goals behind the joint-leaders Cristiano Ronaldo and Alfredo Di Stefano as Madrid’s top Clásico scorers (18).

We can also argue that he is the first player to wear the white kit and score three goals in Barcelona since 1963.

At the weekend Karim Benzema completed a hat-trick within seven minutes as Real Madrid ran riot against Real Valladolid.

On Sunday Benzema netted his first goal 29 minutes into the tie. He then added another three minutes later before striking for a third time in the 36th minute.

The France star’s treble is the first hat-trick he has ever scored in the first half of a game for Madrid.

The first half treble meant he became the first player in the club’s history to score over 20 goals in 11 seasons. Club legends Raul and Alfredo di Stefano both managed it in 10 seasons now the 35-year-old is in a league of his own.

Vinicius Jr levelled for Madrid in first-half stoppage time with Benzema adding two goals early in the second half and the second goal from the penalty spot.

Karim put the visitors in control and completed his Second-half hat-trick to seal the win in the 80th minute.

As expected, it was a tussle at Camp Nou, and Xavi’s side looked the better of the two during the opening moments, with Raphinha and Gavi causing headaches for Real Madrid.

Courtois made a huge stop on Robert Lewandowski from point-blank range before Madrid hit on the counter. Vinicius’ shot then had just enough power to turn things level on aggregate.

Thibaut Courtois was called into action, but Sergi Roberto’s shot didn’t cause too much of an issue before it was time for Carlo Ancelotti’s side to threaten.
