Marcus Rashford continues to prove that he is not on the list of overrated, overhyped English players after his two late goals against League One side Charlton Athletic.

The in-form striker takes his goal tally to 15 for the season as the win moves United to their eighth-straight win and into their third last-four appearance in the Carabao Cup. United won the Carabao Cup in 2017 under Jose Mourinho (their last domestic silverware).

In the other last-four fixtures, United were eliminated twice by Manchester City, who they face this Saturday at Old Trafford. United Manager Erik Ten Haag will be feeling confident heading into the derby after the win with seven players set to feature against City starting from the bench against Charlton.

United found the opener in the 21st minute through Antony, who has now scored in two successive games. The Brazilian forward curled a sublime shot beyond Maynard-Brewer in Charlton Athletic’s goal. He has now scored five goals for United in all competitions this season.

As reported by BBC, the visitors had 9000 traveling supporters and they cheered their team on for a very spirited performance up until Rashford silenced them on their way home.

United could have extended their lead in the first half from a Fred freekick- smacked against the post. Alejandro Garnacho also blew his chance right before the break, after he drifted in off the right but shot over the bar.

In the second half, Ashley Maynard-Brewer had to make a crucial save from Christian Eriksen’s effort who came on in the 60th minute alongside Casemiro and Marcus Rashford in place of Fred, Kobbie Mainoo, and Antony.

United’s 17year old Kobbie Mainoo is applauded as he comes off the field for superb composure in midfield. Mainoo joins Charlie McNeill as Erik ten Hag’s second academy talent to be promoted to senior football, and he becomes the eighth United player to make his debut under the Dutchman.

With five minutes to play, Erik Ten Haag brings on Facundo Pelistri for Antony Elanga. Minutes later Facundo receives a perfectly floated ball by Casemiro and provides the assist for Marcus Rashford who scores in his sixth straight game.

In the four minutes of added time, Marcus Rashford strikes again. Casemiro with the assist over the top and United seal a spot in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
