Real Relief Managing Director Trine Angeline Sig, through an official statement, said there is a looming Ocean plastic crisis, every minute of the everyday equivalent of one Garbage Truck of plastic dumped into the Ocean.

She also said that unless there is immediate and sustained global action to mitigate the rising threat, there will be more plastic than Fish in the Ocean by 2050.

The Managing Director also noted that plastic remains in the Ocean for 100 years, and may also take 100 years to degrade. The cumulative amount of plastic in the Ocean by 2050 could reach 600 million tonnes which are equivalent in weight to more than 3 million Blue Whales.
