Resolutions

Studies show that half of all new year’s resolutions fail, but that does not mean yours have to. It just needs a little wisdom when planning.

Here are tips that guarantee the smashing success of your new year’s resolutions:

  • Break your goals into smaller, more achievable goals

One way to ensure that your goals are achieved at the end of the year is to break down the bigger goal into smaller goals. For example; if you aim to start a business, the first goal is to plan how you will get the capital, the location of the business, the licenses, and legal frameworks. These sub-goals will help the journey toward achieving the bigger goal a lot easier.

  • Be realistic

Honey, Rome was not built in a day. There is no way in hell and back where you will set ridiculous goals and expect results. Try to be as real as possible about the goals you are setting. Even when you are breaking down your year’s goals, ensure you organize them into achievable goals. This will help ease the pressure of trying to get everything to work at once when you have barely thought things through.

Setting unrealistic goals for yourself will only cause you frustration and anxiety
  • Strategize

Planning is like doing half the work. To ensure you stick to your new year’s resolutions, formulate plans on how you will achieve each goal you have set for the year. If you want to focus more on your studies, plan how you will incorporate more time into your school work. This goes a long way in ensuring that your resolutions have been achieved come to the end of the year.

  • Do not pressure yourself

You have got an entire year to make things work out. So, give yourself a vote of confidence. This does not mean that you stay dormant, no. Rather, you need to allow yourself room to grow and discover new and better ways of achieving your goals as the year progresses. That new year’s resolution is not restricted to one way of achieving it. Furthermore, failures are bound to happen because, well, you are no Einstein.

The best way to get your resolutions to work is to have a positive mindset and motivate yourself
  • It’s okay to get help

Asking for support from others is not a sign of weakness, so do not let your pride get in the way of something good. Feel free to ask for guidance from other people when your plans have hit the wall. This will give you more progress than trying to do everything alone.

Finally, measure how successful you have been and what you need to do to correct past mistakes. You will be one happy person when the year comes to an end.
