The Kenyan National Anthem has been played during the Olympic games and is sometimes voted one of the best national anthems to be made however, we rarely know the history and the composition of the Kenyan National Anthem.

The Kenyan national Anthem was inspired by a traditional song from the Pokomo tribe of Kenya found in the coastal region. The song was sung by mothers to their children.

The original creator of the traditional Pokomo traditional song is known as Mzee Galana Morowa Menza who was recruited by a Kenyan set of composers and his specialty was to compose lullabies.

Mzee Galana recalled a song he learned from his childhood called B-e-e Mndondo B-e-e. The tunes of this lullaby were used to create the Kenyan National Anthem.

 The Kenyan national Anthem was first sung on independence day in 1963, it was composed by Thomas Johnson Kuto Kalume.

Other co-producers of the Kenyan National anthem. apart from Thomas, including: George Senoga-Zake, Peter Kibukosya, Washington Omondi, and Graham Hyslop.

The Lyrics of the Kenyan National Anthem were carefully thought out for the lyrics to describe and represent Kenya.

The meaning of the Kenyan National Anthem

The Kenyan National anthem is a prayer, the first stanza asks God to give blessings to Kenya and to live together in peace.

The second stanza encourages Kenyan citizens to work hard to fulfill their daily duties in order for us to protect our country.

The third stanza encourages us to build and develop the country Kenya for it is our responsibility as citizens.

The third stanza also urges

Kenyans to work in unity in order to develop the country for the better.

The Kenyan national anthem is a symbol of unity and one is singing it, it should be sung with pride for it encourages togetherness and patriotism
