Twitter Owner Elon Musk receives the best of sarcasm from Trevor Noah after revealing a new $8 blue verified checkmark monthly subscription.
‘Twitter Blue’ will now cost you $8 a month to get the iconic blue check mark to verify your account. This is according to Twitter Owner Elon Musk through his Twitter account.
According to Elon Musk, paid users will receive half as many adverts as free users while also receiving first priority in answers, mentions, and searches as well as the opportunity to submit longer video and audio content. Publishers who use the platform will also be able to get beyond the paywall.
In a series of Tweets, Musk elaborated how all this would be made possible;
Earlier some well-known Twitter users, like author Stephen King, had expressed annoyance about the rumored $20 monthly fee.

Some people view blue check marks as a status symbol because they are quite uncommon. Just 360,000 accounts, or 0.2% of the monetizable daily active users on Twitter, were verified in 2021.

Trevor Noah Reveals How Elon Musk Can Make Twitter Profitable
Popular South African Comedian, producer, writer, political commentator, and Television host, Trevor Noah, said that Musk’s goal of introducing equality and free expression to Twitter cannot be accomplished by charging people for blue check marks.
“So, here’s my question: If you’re trying to create equality on Twitter, why charge anyone to be verified? Just give everyone a blue checkmark then,” Noah said. “Why are you charging people? It doesn’t make sense to offer it as ‘equality’ and then put a price on it, do you get what I’m saying? Can you imagine if MLK was out there like, ‘I have a dream. I have a dream… and I’ll tell you all about it for $8.99 a month.’ It wouldn’t be the same thing.”
Trevor Noah, during the latest episode of ‘The Daily Show’ made reference to allegations that in the 12-hour period following Musk’s takeover of the firm, the use of the N-word on Twitter increased by 500%. Musk then added, “I will explain the rationale in longer form before this is implemented. It is the only way to defeat the bots & trolls.”
The popular comedian noted, “It’s all about ‘equality.’ No, you’re trying to make money. I get it” he continued. “I think this $8 a month thing is ridiculous. If you ask me, if Elon Musk wants to make money from Twitter, what he should do [is], don’t charge people for blue checkmarks. Charge white people to say the N-word. Twitter will be the most profitable company in history. Racists will be taking out loans.”
