As part of Spotify’s sponsorship deal with FC Barcelona, the Catalan Giants wore a limited-edition shirt with Drake’s OVO owl logo. This historic achievement came as a result of Drake being the first artist to reach 50 billion streams on Spotify.

The ‘Drake Curse’ History

The Internet Theory suggests that rapper Drake is behind the downfall of several top sports teams and athletes. It is believed that once he is spotted with a sports star or with a sports team jersey, then bad luck will most likely befall them.

The most notable victims of the ‘Drake Curse’ include Paul Pogba at Manchester United, Wilfried Saha at Crystal Palace, PSG (thrashed 5-1 by Lille), and Conor McGregor who was beaten by Khabib in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

FC Barcelona join as the latest victims of the infamous curse after Drake placed approximately $833,000 in a multi-bet backing Arsenal to beat Leeds in their Premier League fixture and FC Barcelona to win the El Clasico. The bet would have resulted in a win of $3,900,002.

Arsenal won, but Real Madrid ensured the ‘Drake Curse’ theory continues by defeating Barca 3-1.

Despite being popularised on social media networks, the ‘Drake Curse’ did not have a similar effect on some of his big stake winnings. In July, British stars Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann won their fights at UFC, pocketing Drake a cool $2,952,160.
