This comes after the speakers of the national assembly and the senate, Moses Wetangula, and Amason Kingi respectively declared the seats vacant, after the three elected members resigned from their seats to join president William Ruto’s newly appointed cabinet after successful vetting.
Both the house speakers issued a writ to the IEBC over the vacancies, a move that has left the residents of Garissa township, Kandara, and Elgeyo Marakwet in disarray as they prepare to head back to the ballot to elect new leaders next year.
