According to the India Anti-Fake News War Room (AFWA), the video footage wascaptured in Honduras, North America, and not Uganda.

AFWA confirmed the fake video was posted on September 16, 2022, when the Honduras paratroopers abruptly landed on the ground after losing control due to heavy winds.

“On September 15, 2022, a parachuting show was held at the José de la Paz Herrera National Stadium in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, as part of celebrations of the country’s 201st Independence Day. During this period, some of the Air Force paratroopers reportedly landed abruptly because of heavy winds,” CNN reported on the same video that was shot and now presented from a different angle.

However, AFWA probed that the video was posted by Cadena Radial del Centro, which is a radio station in Honduras, immediately after the incident occurred.

“A reverse search of the viral video’s keyframes led us to a Facebook video on September 16, 2022. Taken from a different angle, this video showed the failed landing of one of the paratroopers from the viral video.”

“This proves that the video is not from this year’s Independence Day celebration in Uganda, which is held on October 9, annually. We also found this video shared by Cadena Radial del Centro, a Honduras-based radio station, on its Facebook page the very same day.”

The Ugandan military fake video was shared a few days after UPDF General Muhoozi Kainerugaba shared tweets that circumnavigate hate speech to Kenyans.

A tweet sharing this video read, “Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the Ugandan Military paratroopers as seen on Uganda’s independence celebrations on October 9, 2022. Kenyans must be very afraid, because this is the army whose former commander, the President’s son, threatened to invade Nairobi!”
