Five suggestions to improve on self-acceptance

Self-acceptance is a skill that we develop over time in all spheres of our lives, including our personal, professional, academic, physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional ones.

For instance, even if we are aiming to have a healthy body, do we fat shame ourselves, or do we honor and embrace our bodies as they are? Do you embrace the fact that you may not be married at a particular age or do you feel guilty about not being single?

The secret to a happy life and enhancing your general well-being is self-acceptance.

In a recent Instagram post, popular psychologist Dr. Ketam Hamdan offered five suggestions for increasing self-acceptance.

Accept your faults
Having compassion for yourself, which entails recognizing your humanity and flaws, is the first step in developing self-acceptance. As you would with a friend, speak to yourself. What aspects of yourself in the present can you modify by picturing your former self as a different person? Examine your mental, spiritual, emotional, interpersonal, and physical well-being. Which part or parts do you need to forgive and be compassionate toward yourself? Do you forgive yourself for having a flawed body, for your errors, for your unmet expectations?

Strengths
Your three greatest strengths should be highlighted. Where there is focus, there is energy. This does not imply that you do not develop; rather, it means that you give more thought to what is good than to what is wrong and accept who you are.

Put an end to self-comparison.
Self-acceptance can be difficult because we frequently contrast ourselves with others. When you stop assessing yourself against others, you start to examine yourself. External validation is less important, and you are more confident in your own.

Inner critic
Observing your inner critic, or the voice inside that constantly tells you you aren’t good enough and sets expectations, is another approach to aid in creating acceptance for yourself. You are informed that you are ugly and a loser.

Mindfulness
Most of us are not even aware of our negative self-talk because so much of it occurs in our subconscious. To hear or become aware of your inner thoughts and sensations, try to quiet your mind. What causes you to worry? Why are you embarrassed? What aspects of yourself do you attempt to avoid contemplating? To hear or become aware of your inner thoughts and sensations, try to quiet your mind.
