Wajackoyah’s vice presidential running mate, Justina Wamae, publicly criticized him for openly endorsing Raila Odinga on Wednesday.

She then threatened to drop out of the presidential race and vote for either Wahiga Mwaure of Agano or Deputy President William Ruto on August 9, 2022.

“The allegations that my Principal and Party leader is supporting Azimio are true even though we have not discussed that as a party, we have not agreed and neither have I been consulted,” Wamae said.

“If push comes to shove, I say I will support the contrary. But we have not agreed as a party and we are still focused on pushing our agenda as Roots Party and popularizing our manifesto.”

Wajackoyah’s declaration that he has “deep respect” for Odinga in a now-viral video is what set things off.

The gathering watching him was thrown into a frenzy by his comment.

Wajackoyah’s statement, according to Roots Party Head of Media Wilson Muriani aka Jaymo ule Msee, was taken out of context.

“Whereas out party leader addressed his supporters and accorded the other three presidential candidates some level of respect, the biased media has doctored the clip to suit and push their candidate, Raila Odinga,” part of the statement read.

“We have not and will not endorse any other candidate.”

Wajackoyah’s issues with his running mate became apparent when she chose to attend the vice presidential debate while he chose to skip it.

However, Wajackoyah has denied endorsing Raila Odinga’s presidential bid in the August Polls.

“I have seen the video. You know people are just mad. William Ruto’s people have created an image of me on Facebook saying I am supporting him. Some are saying I have endorsed Raila, Yes, I said those words, that I look up to Raila just like what I said about Ruto in Eldoret,

“I was acknowledging what Raila has done in Nyanza, and what he has done for the people. What is wrong with that?” said Wajackoyah in an interview.
