Following the announcement by the Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha that the schooling institutions were to resume on Thursday, August 18, the National Police service has assured security of students as they resume studies.
Magoha last week directed schools to resume on August 18, following a break because of the August 9 general election.
“I hereby convey the Government’s decision on the suspension of the re-opening of all Basic Education institutions with effect from Monday, 15th August 2022 until Thursday, August 18,” said Magoha.
The National Police Service has assured the parents that learners will be safe as they resume their studies.
NPS has recommended normal operations emphasizing that security is maintained to the maximum.
“NPS has left nothing to chance and our traffic officers continue to intensify patrols and surveillance on the roads. As schools enter the re-opening day today after the midterm break, we wish to assure the public of their safety and that of their children as they travel on public roads across the country,” a statement from the NPS said.
Further urging the parents to let the children get back to school despite the fears of after-election upheavals as the country is at peace and operations are resuming back to normal.
NPS has directed the public to contact them via phone on 999, 112, 911, or on 0800 722 203 in case of any emergency that needs to be reported.
