The national government has opened the new Emuhaya Sub-County headquarters in Vihiga County, a move officials say is aimed at improving access to public services, strengthening security coordination and bringing government closer to local communities.
On Friday, Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo presided over the launch of the facility at Hobuyaya in Emuhaya Constituency. The opening forms part of the government’s wider plan to ope-rationalise gazetted administrative units across the country.
Speaking during the event, Omollo said the new offices would help make public administration more efficient while improving the coordination of security operations.
“The new headquarters will enhance administrative efficiency, improve security coordination and response, while fostering closer engagement between the government and local communities,” Omollo said.
Before the launch, the Principal Secretary met National Government Administrative Officers, including Assistant County Commissioners and chiefs from Emuhaya and Luanda sub-counties, to discuss administrative and security issues affecting the region.
According to officials, the meeting reviewed the delivery of public services, assessed coordination within the national administration and explored ways to strengthen governance and improve the implementation of government programmes at the grassroots level.
Omollo later attended a security briefing involving administrators, security agencies and local leaders. Discussions focused on the area’s security situation, ongoing efforts to tackle crime and measures aimed at improving the safety of residents.
Government officials said the headquarters is expected to strengthen coordination among public agencies while making it easier for residents to access government services without travelling long distances.
The opening reflects the government’s continued efforts to expand administrative infrastructure as part of its broader agenda to improve governance and service delivery across the country.
