Ingotse Boys High School has been shut indefinitely after a night of unrest that saw students damage property and spark a fire within the school compound.

The disturbance began late Wednesday night, according to early accounts from the area, with students reportedly storming parts of the institution before some left the school grounds during the chaos.
By Thursday morning, school administrators had ordered all learners to vacate the campus as police and education officials began assessing the scale of destruction.
One of the buildings most affected was the school library, which suffered extensive fire damage. Photographs from the scene showed blackened walls, collapsed sections of roofing and debris scattered across the compound.

Witnesses said smoke was still drifting from parts of the building hours after the incident, pointing to the intensity of the overnight blaze.
Officials had not yet established the exact cause of the protest by Thursday afternoon, and no formal statement had been issued explaining what may have triggered the unrest.
The incident has unsettled families and residents in Navakholo and surrounding areas, where the school is widely known as a longstanding institution serving students from across the region.
Authorities also had not confirmed whether anyone was injured during the disturbance.
The closure comes amid renewed concern over unrest in secondary schools across Kenya. In recent months, several schools have reported strikes, vandalism and dormitory fires, reviving debate over student welfare, discipline and pressure within learning institutions.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
