Residents in Ngong spent hours waiting anxiously beside heaps of concrete and twisted metal after a building collapsed in the Olenairi area, trapping several people beneath the rubble.
By Tuesday evening, the Kenya Red Cross confirmed that all those reported missing had been accounted for, bringing a tense rescue mission to a close.

The humanitarian agency said four people trapped inside the collapsed structure were successfully recovered during a multi-agency operation involving emergency crews, local authorities and rescue volunteers.
“Search and recovery operations following the building collapse in Olenairi, Ngong, Kajiado County, have officially concluded,” the Kenya Red Cross said in a statement.
Throughout the day, rescue teams combed through debris as worried relatives and residents gathered nearby, hoping for news. Emergency responders remained at the site for several hours, helping affected families and clearing dangerous rubble from the area.
Authorities had not disclosed the cause of the collapse by Tuesday night, and investigations were expected to begin once the site was secured.

The incident has once again drawn attention to concerns over construction safety in Kenya, where cases of collapsing buildings have become increasingly common in rapidly growing urban areas. In recent years, experts and housing activists have repeatedly called for stricter enforcement of building regulations and closer inspection of construction sites.
Officials, however, cautioned against speculation before investigations are completed.
For families caught in the chaos, the end of the search operation brought relief, though questions remain over what caused the structure to give way.
