Kenya’s golf calendar is set for a major boost with the launch of the inaugural Invest Kenya Golf Tournament (IKGT), scheduled to tee off on March 27, 2026 at the prestigious Muthaiga Golf Club.

The tournament, to be played in a Stableford format, is expected to attract approximately 200 players, including local and international corporate leaders and selected professional golfers.

The event adds a high-profile fixture to the country’s sporting calendar.

A Strategic Addition to KIICO 2026

The Invest Kenya Golf Tournament is being introduced as a strategic sporting event of the Kenya International Investment Conference (KIICO 2026), Kenya’s flagship investment forum.

The fourth edition of KIICO will take place from March 25 to 27, 2026 with the golf tournament serving as the sport’s contribution to the conference week.

In a message delivered by Jackson Indakwa, Director of Sports, on behalf of the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Hon. Salim Mvurya, the CS emphasized the broader impact of golf events on Kenya’s global sporting profile.

“Sport continues to showcase Kenya on the world stage. Initiatives such as the Invest Kenya Golf Tournament strengthen Kenya’s reputation as a destination for major sporting events while supporting the growth of golf locally. International events such as the Olympics and Commonwealth Games play a critical role in marketing Kenya internationally,” the message stated.

Mr. John Mwendwa, OGW, Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Investment Authority (Invest Kenya), underscored the strategic vision behind the event.

“This inaugural tournament reflects our commitment to creating platforms where meaningful connections can develop. Golf provides a setting for sustained interaction, strategic dialogue, and trust-building — values that mirror both sport and long-term investment partnerships,” he said.

Registration for the Invest Kenya Golf Tournament is ongoing via the official KIICO website. With over 150 players already registered, draws are scheduled to close in early March.

The tournament’s closing awards ceremony will officially mark the conclusion of KIICO 2026 week.

Invest Kenya intends for the tournament to become an annual fixture, further strengthening Kenya’s golf calendar and supporting the country’s continued emergence as a leading golf destination in Africa.
